Evaluation of UNHCR’s Engagement in Humanitarian‐ Development Cooperation highlights from the evaluation

To adapt its approach in light of the New Way of Working and the Global Compact on Refugees, the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR, has recently strengthened its commitment to enhancing cooperation with development actors. It has put more effort into linking short-term relief assistance with longer-term social and economic development.

To assess the effectiveness of this work, UNHCR's Evaluation Service has evaluated these efforts over the last three years. Below are some highlights from the evaluation.

*Methods: We use UNHCR’s home-visit data sets, comprising survey data that was collected through interviews with Syrian refugee households in Jordan. The data sets contain data on a large proportion of all registered refugees in Jordan. We conduct descriptive and inferential statistical analysis on a range of relevant outcome variables. For more information on these methods, as well as data limitations, see here.
