This event will bring together UNHCR Assistant High Commissioner for Protection, Gillian Triggs, and the UNSW Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), Professor Nicholas Fisk, for the signing ceremony of the extension of the Memorandum of Understanding between UNHCR and UNSW and discussions on the role of academic research in the protection of displaced people. Kaldor Centre Director Professor Jane McAdam and Professor Geoff Gilbert, chair of the Global Academic Interdisciplinary Network (GAIN) secretariat, will open a discussion highlighting the experiences of members of the Kaldor Centre’s Emerging Scholars Network, a multidisciplinary and international community of more than 200 graduate and early-career scholars in forced migration studies.
