Welcoming Week is a narrative and local action campaign now active in the US, Mexico, Italy, and Australia, where the campaign is led by civil society organizations, and in Canada and New Zealand where it is led by national governments. Welcoming Week celebrates the actions of governments, CSOs, businesses, and refugee and migrant leaders to create more welcoming communities. National leads work in partnership across sectors and across levels of government to host local events -- 2000+ events globally in 2025 –and catalyze large-scale social and traditional media engagement.
Launched in 2012 by Welcoming America, Welcoming Week now provides individuals and organizations the opportunity to showcase their values through events and initiatives that foster connections and collaboration between newcomers and long-time residents, as well as belonging for all. The weeklong campaign is one moment in the year to celebrate the year-round work of cultivating connecting, inclusion, and belonging.
