Emmanuel: The refugee who became an Irish Garda

A video from UNHCR

Emmanuel had no idea where Ireland was when he first arrived as a refugee from South Sudan. Through resettlement and complementary pathways, he was given the chance to rebuild his life in safety. Today, Emmanuel serves as an Irish Garda, a testament to the power of opportunity, support, and determination. This inspiring story shows how resettlement, family reunification, and international opportunities can empower refugees to make their own life choices, develop their skills, and contribute to their new communities.
