Projected Global Resettlement Needs 2026
Newly arrived Sudanese refugees are seen in the border town of Adre, in Chad. More than 700,000 refugees fleeing the violence in Sudan have crossed into Chad since the conflict began in April 2023.
Resettlement enables refugees to relocate to another country which has agreed to admit them with a legal status ensuring international protection and ultimately permanent residence. Through the Projected Global Resettlement Needs, UNHCR estimates the number of refugees who require resettlement in the following year.
