EU supports a high quality asylum space with funding

A project from the European Union

The EU’s Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund (AMIF) provides financial support to promote the efficient management of migration flows and the implementation, strengthening and development of a common Union approach to asylum and migration in the EU.

The AMIF for the period 2014-2020 has provided funding to push forward the EU’s comprehensive agenda on migration in a challenging migration situation. It supported actions related to asylum, including resettlement and relocation, integration of third country nationals and return operations. During this funding period, over 2 million individuals have been helped by AMIF support for asylum and around EUR 2.4 billion were provided in support of urgent needs for asylum systems and reception capacities under Emergency Assistance (EMAS) funding.

The renewed AMIF for 2021-2027 will have a larger budget of €9.9 billion to be dedicated to Member States programmes as well as to emergency assistance, resettlement and humanitarian admission from non-EU countries, and to relocating asylum-seekers and refugees inside the EU, as part of solidarity efforts.
