Description
To award scholarships for refugees to complete Master’s degree programs when specific criteria, determined by the relevant departments, are met. With this practice, the University of Cyprus wishes to provide access to education and research, and career opportunities to refugees.
Main activities of the Good Practice
More specifically, for the academic year 2019 - 2020, the departments below will provide scholarships (tuition fees only, totalling 50 per cent to 100 per cent of full program costs), when candidates meet the eligibility criteria set by departments.
Student candidates may contact the below departments for more information:
- Department of Psychology
- Department of Business and Public Administration, MBA program
- Department of Turkish and Middle Eastern Studies
- Department of French and European Studies (with two scholarships of 80% for the program of Master in Teaching French as a Foreign Language & Master in European Studies)
Challenges and how they were overcome
Students granted scholarships in this programme might not speak Greek . If the need arises, the School of Modern Greek could provide students – when admitted in the programme – the opportunity to learn the local language.
Results of the Good Practice
The provision of greater access to education, research, and career opportunities. Those accepted into the programme will benefit from the access to UCY student life.
