Call for Papers: IASFM Lisa Gilad Prize 2022
Call for Papers: IASFM Lisa Gilad Prize 2022
Submission deadline: May 2, 2022
The Lisa Gilad Prize was established in memory of Lisa Gilad, social anthropologist, refugee status decision-maker, author of ethnographies of migration, and devoted member of the scholarly network that established the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration (IASFM). This prize honours an early-career author and member of the IASFM who has published a particularly meritorious contribution to refugee studies as a peer-reviewed article on forced migration in a scholarly journal. The prize will be awarded to the author of the article judged to make the most intellectually creative and socially important contribution to research on forced migration.
Eligibility criteria: Submitted articles must have been published between August 1, 2020 and May 2, 2022. Peer-reviewed online articles on forced migration published in a scholarly journal within the Call or Papers time period are acceptable. Authors submitting papers must be a) within 5 years of completing their highest degree (with medical and childcare leaves not counted as part of the timeframe); and, b) be a member in good standing of IASFM at the time the paper was published. Each eligible IASFM member may only submit one paper per competition. Previous prize winners are ineligible for consideration. If the prize is awarded to a co-authored paper, the prize money will be divided equally amongst all co-authors. The paper must be peer-reviewed and published in a scholarly journal by the closing date of the call. Papers published in languages other than English must be accompanied by an English translation, as English is the working language of the IASFM.
