Join UNHCR in celebrating refugee-led innovation 

UNHCR’s Innovation Service warmly invites you to join us in celebrating the 17 remarkable refugee-led organisations supported in the first funding round of our Refugee-led Innovation Fund. 

The Fund champions the creativity of all displaced and stateless people. Co-created with refugees, it ensures refugee-led organizations have the resources, mentorship, and technical support they need to magnify their impact and create lasting, positive change in their communities. When it was launched in 2022, the Refugee-led Innovation Fund received nearly 2,000 applications from 18 pilot countries, attesting to the drive and creativity of displaced and stateless people around the world.  

The 17 projects endorsed by the Fund’s steering committee are diverse and ambitious. From an initiative providing immersive professional training for art and museum careers in partnership with prestigious French cultural institutions, to a seed bank and community garden system supporting sustainable food security and livelihoods in Uganda, these projects will deliver manifold benefits to displaced people and host communities. 

With its focus on self-reliance, inclusion, principled partnerships, and localisation, the Refugee-led Innovation Fund enables displaced communities to shape their own future. The 17 organisations we will introduce and celebrate during this event are leading the way.
