Georgia makes progress on its pledge and shares precious knowledge
At the Global Refugee Forum in 2019, the Government of Georgia committed to share its experience and knowledge with interested countries on asylum determination as part of the Asylum Capacity Support Group. In 2022, Georgia hosted four-day study visits for the Governments of North Macedonia and of the Republic of Tajikistan and fulfilled its pledge to share what they had learned and good practices they were applying in regard to their asylum system. This included addressing the issues of establishing refugee status determination procedures, country of origin research capacity, and a quality assurance mechanism.
The visits were successful and created potential for further cooperation and dialogue between Georgia and the visiting authorities. Find out more on the ACSG portal.
