Welcome Japan Symposium 2023

Welcome Japan Symposium 2023 was held on 12 December 2023, connecting Geneva, Japan and countries in the Asia and Pacific region. Organized by Welcome Japan and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, Asia Pacific Network of Refugees (APNOR), Asia Pacific Refugee Rights Network (APRRN) and Forum for Refugees Japan (FRJ), the symposium convened a diverse array of stakeholders from Parliamentarian, NGOs, NPOs, the corporate sector, government agencies, and refugees, each presenting their unique pledges towards enhancing the self-reliance of refugees within Japan and beyond. The first session highlighted Japan’s contribution and on over 40 pledges, showcasing the collective efforts to create further refugee inclusion. The emphasis was on Japan's proactive approach to creating a more inclusive society for refugees, underlining the importance of national efforts in the global context of refugee support.
